I am a Pain Medicine Specialist and Anaesthetist with 15 years of experience managing pain. I work locally as a Senior Staff Specialist in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. There, my role also includes examining and supervising of trainees for the Faculty of Pain Medicine Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia. Recently, the Faculty of Pain Medicine has redesigned the curriculum. I am involved in this process. As a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales I teach undergraduate doctors, nurses, registrars and fellows.
Pain Medicine research is an interest of mine. I am primarily involved in the improvement of pain management around the time of exenteration (recurrent bowel cancer) surgery. Some of my publish research includes pain post tonsillectomy and the use of implanted devices for pain management. Other pain related interests of mine include Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness and Meditation.
Finally, I am an advanced interventional pain specialist and obtained my Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice in 2013.
