Tony Merritt
Tony completed his undergraduate and postgraduate training at the University of New South Wales. He has undertaken advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. Tony has also completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) with BehaviourTech. Tony is registered to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in New South Wales and is registered as a provider of clinical psychology services with Medicare. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, The Australian Clinical Psychology Association, The Australian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy, The Association for Contextual Behavioural Science, and The International Association for the Study of Pain.Tony is a highly experienced clinician with many years experience working with people with chronic pain. Tony worked at RPA Hospital Pain Management Centre for ten years where he ran the clinical psychology and pain management programmes. Tony has worked as part of several highly regarded pain managemnet teams in private practice, including Eastern Suburbs Pain Clinic and Camperdown Pain Management. He has conducted and published research on chronic pain and has presented at local and international conferences. He has written several book chapters on chronic pain, including a soon to be published international handbook on chronic pain that has chapters by many world-wide experts on chronic pain. Tony is also a lecturer at the University of New South Wales where he teaches chronic pain in the Masters of Clinical Psychology programme.
